About Al Elliott

Al Elliott is a veteran educator and community artist.  He has been trained in the area of mathematics early in his career by Robert Moses and the Algebra Project and has been implementing the constructivist principles learned throughout his career. 

He is also the founder and facilitator of the It Is Written Musical Series.  It Is Writtens are crowd-sourced songwriting events that happen quarterly in various locations. Al Elliott facilitates events to positively “shift-the-culture” in identified areas using the arts.  He has a bachelor's and a master’s degree in elementary education from UAB. He is also a 2016 TEDxBirmingham speaker and 2017 REV Birmingham Co.Starter graduate. 

Al Elliott is a actor and starred in the Steel Magic Theatre’s 2019 presentations of August Wilson’s FENCES, Radio Golf and How I Learned What I Learned. Al also acts in the award winning ensemble cast of Sword Of Trust, a film shot in Birmingham, Alabama, directed by Lynn Shelton.

Al Elliott performs under the moniker Thed Weller and his music can be found on all music streaming platforms. His third studio album is entitled “GNILTSUH”.
